After I purchased and installed the external modem on com1 I could not access the modem. I have run the modem on another computer and it works fine. I checked bios and verified com1 is enabled. Started windows and verified Plug&Play disabled, went into device manager and removed modem. Shut down windows 98se, started again and Installed modem- wont run. Checked device manager and modem is there but NOT on com1 it branches off computer not com1. I am stumped any Ideas?
