Vaio drive replacement

By Jbencsik ·
I first have to say, I despise Sony Vaio's. Hate them with a passion. They're absolutely garbage.

I have a user with a new VGN-Z750D which suddenly decided not to power on. Of course he doesn't have his data backed up so I need to pull the drive to do a recovery. Sony does not make it simple to yank drives out of their Vaio's.

Does anyone know of any available field service guides for this model? If not, does anyone know how to actually pull the drive from one of these?

Thanks!

Sony will not power on (your model).

If it is close to the VGN-SZ series, I can see why it would be a pain to change the HD. Check this link;

Thanks for the response, but...

I tried the mindless Sony troubleshooting advice. This laptop is as dead as fried chicken, so it's probably safe to say the mobo is fried.

The SZ's are different in that the keyboard doesn't sit under the top chassis. With this Z750, the keyboard does.

I suppose I'll start removing screws and see where I end up.

Everyone and their mother who makes laptops make's it so you can get to the HD relatively easy. Not sony though, they need to be the non-conformist.

I so hate their laptops.
