Odd situation here… I’ve got a client with a Compaq Presario 5630. It has one CD/DVD drive, a 12GB IDE and a 40GB IDE drive. So, that leaves one IDE channel free, right? Well, we add an HP CD-RW drive to his set up and we power it up. WINDOWSsees the drive, but CMOS does NOT! When I restart the machine, it doesn’t show up (unless there is a CD in the drive, THEN it sees it) … And it won’t work for burning. Run the software (Roxio) and the RW just goes into la-la land. No response. You have to actually turn off the machine for it to start properly… I know it has something to do with the CMOS settings (I’m pretty sure) but when I enter the BIOS setup, it just has options for “Primary IDE” and “Secondary IDE” and it just to turn them on or off… Nothing about devices hooked up to them… Any ideas?
thanks in advance!
