VBA to update linked file in Outlook

By CMB from Omaha ·
I know that for Outlook 2003, you can't "do as much" with VBA/macros as for the other MS Office apps. But is what I want to do possible?

A recurring Outlook task has an Excel spreadsheet linked to it. (The idea is for Outlook to remind me to consult and update the spreadsheet at least once every day.)

However, to open the linked Excel file from the Outlook, I must currently do excessive "clicking". Ideally, I'd like to have the Excel file open automatically when I open the Outlook task. If that isn't possible, a second option would be a macro that I could put on a toolbar within Outlook, so the spreadsheet would open with one click. Is this possible, and if so, can someone help me get started? Thanks so much!

Anyone ever respond?

Did anyone ever respond to you? I've been looking for two hours on how to get the OLE to even work in a Task in Outlook 03. I have to right click\Properties\Open Source to get it to open.
I think I remember a security feature that would resolve this from a while ago.
Let me know if you found an answer.
