VB.NET Windows Forms

By Jeremy The IT Guy ·
I have an application that I'm developing and it consists like this. It will start with a logon page with basic authentication. Once the user is authenticated, I want the Logon Page to close and the Main page to open. That's it. How can I do this? Thanks, Jeremy

Create a login form with a ok button and a cancel button. two text boxes for username and password fields. in the ok button write the code to check the validation of the user by checking up his name from the database.
if the username is ok then unload this form and open another form(the main one). in cancel button unload this form

That's what I'm going to do. I have already created the logon form so is there anyway to create another form and designate it as main or do I need to start over and recreate the logon form as a child? Also, what about this. Can I make it where the logon is main, when it opens another form, it's opacity becomes 0% and the new form is there at 100%? I'm going to give you credit for the question if you can respond to these answers. Thanks, Jeremy

I would suggest you store your username and password in an xml file. Your database would be xml instead of relational database. Create rows in the xml table. Store the user information in the file. Do the authentication whenever you want by reading through the xml file and allow access to users.
