Verbal Agreement

I made a verbal agreement with my future father in law to have my fiance’s little sister (19yrs old) live with us while him and his wife settled their divorce. He claimed he would pay me $450 a month. She lived with me for 11 months and I’m still to see a dime. He claims his daughter should have paid me from her child support money. But that wasn’t our agreement, he said he would send me a seperate check. Can I sue him in small claims court???
