Verizon/Westell

I have recently purchased a laptop. I also have router. I have previously used USB to connect my DSL modem. To use the router I tried to switch to ethernet with no avail. In Network connections is shows the LAN connected but I cannot connect to the internet. I have ot tried to even use the router yet due to this isssue. Verizon has no idea what the problem is and I have replace the cable and the NIC. Any ideas???
