As a grandfather of 5 kids under the age of 10, I have been interested in home computer management measures that can assure young children don’t open a pornographic site accidentally or by curiosity in the case of young teens. This happens all too often. Lately I tried a product called iShieldPLUS. This software monitors the data stream from websites and e-mails. It works on each computer by sensing pornographic image patterns and blocking them before they reach screen. I have tested this product and determined that it is so sensitive it can see the difference between porn and a picture of a bra on a model in a catalog. The catalog pictures are passed, while the porn is blocked.
This product is worthy of a review by TechRepublic and parents with an interest in more effective management of computer use in the home.
