Take a win98se or 2000 pro machine with a clean os install only – no antivirus or firewall etc and a static ip subnet and dns – Create an account for it on a 2000 server and it logs on
beautifully – quick and clean.
Now wipe it and install onto same hardware a clean XP pro – same scenario – no extra software – just install
serv pk 1 and all criticals – same user account,
static ip etc., join the domain and reboot – only now it takes 5 minutes to logon if logging onto the 2000 domain controller. This has happenned to me on several occasions. I even tried turning off local XP services like
dhcp service and some other not needed services
but still it takes forever to logon on after entering user name and password. If I log on
locally without a domain server – then its fast.
Anybody know how to fix this?
