video/boot troubles

By cfl ·
I am having trouble finding the problem on my pc. It started out having trouble turning on. I would have to restart it many times before it would finally boot. Then I would leave it on because the problem was getting worse. Now I can not get any video and it doesn't sound like it is going through the boot process. I have changed monitors, video cards and power supplies. So far I am getting no where. Could it be the hard drive. I never had any error messages or chkdsk screens. Anyone have any thoughts.

Started as a power supply error

Then advanced to total failure. Sure sounds like a system board failure. A quick check of the CMOS battery should be done, then double check all the plugin cards and memory. Then reseat the CPU and heat sink. If you still have a failure, it would be a system board failure. However, double check the power supply is getting the proper voltages at the system board. Possibly a short on the system board is keeping the power supply from starting. I've seen dusty, dirty system boards cause this kind of problem before.

must be system board

I tried everything and it didn't help. I have ordered a new mainboard and will try using my processor. If it still doesn't boot, could it be the processor? I hope not!
