Video capture driver

I have installed on Windows XP Home version Ulead DVD Workshop, when I run this application 7 out of 10 times it comes up with a problem with the Capture Driver “Unable to switch to capture mode, check if your capture driver is working”
If I exit the application and run any other application that uses the capture driver e.g Windows movie maker then there is no capture.
The capture device I am using is Dazzle Hollywood DVD-Bridge and a standard Firewire card. I thought it was a IRG conflict and have checked this out and the problem persists, sometimes DVD Capture works OK.
I have to re-boot to be able to capture again.
