couple questions....

by ---TK--- In reply to video card hangs

When you say black... can you see your mouse when it goes black? Also when you change pages, do you mean your surfing the net? If your surfing the net after the page loads does the monitor go back to normal?

Are you on a desktop or Laptop? And what OS are you on XP, Vista, something else?

Initial program loads but when I try to go to any program (word, OE, web.)it may initialize but then it will go to black and freeze with pointer only showing. Air circ. is good, problem started slowly at first, just once in a while then grew to constant black out and freeze. Did not try other moniter. CD

Is it the onboard Intel Chipset Video card or did you have an upgraded add-on like the Nvidia card?

Thanks for the help Larry, you got it right, that link was what I needed. Of course I had more trouble closeing down my Norton protection than downloading the new driver, but I got what I needed. Thanks

Have you tried a different monitor?

by OH Smeg In reply to video card hangs

Other than that with the very limited information given it's hard to suggest anything else. But I did have a monitor fail on me several years ago and to make matters worse it was My Test Monitor so instead of first trying a different monitor I spent hours trying to fix a Fixed system that came in with that problem.

Really stupid but you can get caught out when you are least expecting it. :)
