Video card interface

By Dsaviorx77 ·

My old video card is pci express x16 (interface) and i wanted to upgrade my card, and i dont know if pci express x16 2.0 will fit in my motherboard. Should get a new motherboard too in order to get that new video card?

Not a problem

The 2.0 boards are the same slot as the 1.0, its the same physical interface. In a motherboard that supports 2.0 they should run faster (in theory). I would get a 2.0 and see if you like the improvement. It is unlikely that the improvements in data badnwidth from 1.0 to 2.0 are as important as the graphics processor and memory on the card.

Shouldn't be any issue

Unless you have a very strange M'Board.

Normally the new PCI Xpress Cards will fit the older PCI Xpress Sockets. Though you may need to look at your Power Supply and make sure that it is big enough to support a new High End Video Card.
