Video Resolution

By riverab ·
Hello everyone,

I hate to sound dumb but, I would like some clarification on this subject. I'm currently setting up a PC as my HTPC. It's a Dell with Win Vista, a 3.4GHz CPU, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD and ATI x300 Video Card with VGA/DVI output. Right now I have a 17" LCD with VGA input. I'm looking at purchasing a 23" or 24" LCDs'with DVI inputs. My question is, If I connect a 23" or 24" LCD to the VGA port at say 1280 x 1024 and then connect it to the DVI port at the same resolution, will there be a significant difference in the picture or will it look the same? I hope the question is understandable. If not, I'll try to expand on it.
Thank you for your help.

Worst I've seen is

That the colour will look slightly off, but this can be corrected on the monitors themselves.

I am currently running a setup that has one VGA and one DVI, the VGA one looks reder than the DVI one. My two monitors are identical.
MY office partner also has the same issue, but his VGA one turns more green.

So basically there's really no improvement on video quality?
