videocard adapter driver

I HAVE A PACKARDBELL PENT 11
w/standard hardware. And when i installed win98
my videocard only reads 16colors/640-840 But it should have multi color and pixel how do i fix this or can i download newer drivers.Or manually go in my comp.to set this straight in my registry.
If so how do I do this.

In the US, support for Packard Bell products is handled by Priority One Support:

Alternately, if you can identify the video card or video processor manufacture, you can download the 'reference' driver from the card or chip manufacture.

A good source for driver links, and driver files is www.driverguide.com

CAUTION:
Verify what version of DirectX is supported by the driver.
DO NOT install a newer version of DirectX than is supported by the video driver.

By the same token, if the video driver is more than 9 months old, I recommend against installing IE 6.

You cannot manually change the registry to allow different video modes if you do not have the correct video driver installed.
You need the files for the driver along with the registry settings.
