What software or service exists which would allow me to monitor in real time what workstations are currently logged onto the server; what files or services they are using; howlong or frequently they logon. I know with server Administration I can click the Users button and see who, click In Use or Shares to see what is being used, but I am looking for something more like the performance monitor which updates automatically and shows the dynamic data as it progresses without having to manually refresh the information.

I have used hyena enterprise edition and that has proven to be quite reliable in providing statistics on – who are logged on – last logon information – password age …

I have used sniffer pro this gives the IP activity the most used workstations displays broadcast information and has a GUI that is very friendly

You can export the address book data as text or spreadsheet for comparison or reports

Might not be exactly what you are looking for but i tend to use netwatch from the NT resouce kit this gives you who is currently logged on and what files they have open and in what shares. The refresh is slow but i find it quite useful, the other advantage is you can monitor multiple servers or workstations fom one location with it
