Viewsonic LCD Diplaying too white

By fleckg ·
I have a viewsonic 17" display that is overblown. Adjusting the brightness down as far as I can only helps a little. I can make it useable by adjusting the color levels down, but is in no way as crisp a picture as it once was. Any idea what the problem could be?

Is it a CRT or a flat panel display?
If it is a CRT monitor then the screen voltage setting has gone up or the voltage to the RGB drive(transistors or Chip) has gone low. Both of these will give you brightness problems. If you are not familiar with CRT monitors, get an engineer to look at it. There are high voltages inside.

it's a flat panel display. I'm thinking it may be an inverter problem, but I've only seen them go completely out never brighter.

I've tried this display on two pc's with the correct driver and a mac. It looks the same on all three. The picture is almost white before the color levels are changed. Once the color levels are lowered the contrast and brightness controls have more of an affect. The picture quality is still barely useable.

have to tried adjusting the contrast levels?
and updating the drivers for the motitor and graphics card?

unusual problem lcd is normally dark not bright.

also, check to make sure it isn't the angle of view.
with lcd any angle other than 90 degrees will affect the brightness and crispness of the display.
