virtual drive

By Shiv ·
Hi! Support republic

I want one of my folders to appear as a "harddrive" when I open the
"My Computer" in my windows system.
Also, this should appear like a drive ie, like c: or d: when someone browses my system over the LAN. Is this possible? if so how ?
I await your earliest reply.

Thanks & Regards
Shiva Prasad

There is a command in DOS called Subst

at the command prompt you can type in:
subst <directory> <drive>

and that will make a directory into a drive

Cheers ....

The command is Subst, and the sintax is

subst <Drive, ej. c, d, e> <\folder path
ej.

subst l: c:\test
if you want to delete the new drive
subst l: /d
you have to add the subst command to your autoexec.bat to make it available everytime you boot up your pc.
I Hope it helps

Good luck,

@lberto
