Virtual Memory

Erroneously, my hard drive was selected when I was trying to change the folder options for a folder on my PC. A systems person was able to get it back as my hard drive, but since then I get a message each time I log on that my paging file can’t be found and that Windows will create a new one. I’m instructed to change the settings. I have done this several times but it doesn’t make a difference. Is there anything I can do? Or does IT have to reformat my hard drive?
