Hi

If you go to www.sophos.com and search for deltree you will see a results window that lists several trojans with this name.

Unfortunately, none of them have any specific details about your particular symptons. There are, however, instructions on how to remove trojans. You may also wish to visit www.symantec.com and search their site for more information.

Do you have anti-virus installed?

Go to this link and download a program called Stinger. What it does is scan your computer for all of the major viruses out there and removes it for you.

Stinger is excellent for a virus compromised computer, however it only searches 53 major viruses. so if stinger doesn't get it try NOD32 for DOS. You can download a trial at:
http://www.nod32.com/download/trial.htm
Stinger and Nod32 have recovered many a win98 computer for me.

If you install anything on that computer you will stand a Very Good Chance of overwriting what has been erased.

Remove the hard drive and install it as a slave in another computer.

On that computer download and install a file recovery program.

Now do your recovery.

You can currently (as of July 31, 2005) download a free copy of eTrust antivirus.

http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft

This copy is free for one year. It is backed by Computer Associates. They have been in the security and antivirus industry for years.

Dude, I love you too but I will not delete your PC to prove it.
Here is a copy of my doc I give out to people from my site:

To completely avoid spyware and viruses, turn PC off. Truthfully.
If you really want to use it, prevention with running programs are best. Read their docs on how to use them and update them. All these are FREE.
Oh, yes! KEEP WINDOWS UP TO DATE! Use the AUTOMATIC UPDATE feature.

First off boot from a floppy and edit autoexec.bat
delete the message and anything after that.

Then visit http://www.download.com
Then http://www.download.com/3001-2239_4-10342876.html (anti-virus program / free)

Then http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10399602.html (anti-spyware program / free)

Then http://www.download.com/3001-2094_4-10382212.html (cleanup the registry / free)

Install each and update then run, reboot after each has run, this should fix most of your problems.
