If you're sure it is a virus and not hardware failure,

then your best bet would be to download and burn to CD one of the antivirus emergency
repair discs. Many free antivirus packages/vendors offer these, such as Avira,
Avast, AVG. Once you have the CD burned, just boot your computer with it instead
of the hard drive and let it scan and clean any infection it finds. Alternatively, you
could boot into safe mode and run a scan from whatever antivirus package you
have installed. Once you've scanned and cleaned, then you might also want to
use MalwareBytes antimalware to scan for any hard to find malware.
Are you using any type of resident antimalware package? Several are good,
I presently use Microsoft's Security Essential as my primary package, with
MalwareBytes as an on-demand scanner. Other good packages include those
I listed above (Avira & Avast would be good choices, AVG is decent at detection,
but sometimes wants to install a few extras that aren't needed/desired, like
browser helper toolbars)
