Vist hibernate option not available

By Healer ·
A laptop with Vista Home Basic has not got a hibernate option. I can't find it in Power Options either. Can somebody help me find it and turn it on?

You will need to check the Bios Power settings and look for settings like these.

S3 Suspend to RAM (Sleep)
or
S4 Suspend to Disk (Hibernate)

Nothing like that in the BIOS

I can't find anything like what you suggested in the BIOS power settings. It is a dell inspiron 1525 laptop.

By the way, what are S3 and S4?

Still not solved

Thanks for your patience and kind help. At least they can find the hibernate option on their laptops but there is none on our laptop. I have left a message there and hope they can help.

I have looked at the BIOS again, there is no such parameters as per ACPI. Probably not every BIOS has such feature. I looked at another laptop Acer and there was no power management at all.
