Vista and server 2003 file transfer problems

by jjd226 . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

My friend has just set up a VPN on a windows server 2003 machine. He gave me Read, write, and execute rights. My desktop is currently running Windows Vista Business OS and when I logged into the server tried to pull some files down .txt .jpg and even some video. I was unable to actually put the files on my machine.

I tried all of the same files again with my virus scanner off, as well as firewall, and I was still not able to save the files.

I was able to create shortcuts, but could not actually move any real data. I tried it on my roommates machine, which is XP, and it worked fine, so at this point I am pretty convinced that it isn’t a security feature, and I really think it has something to do with Vista itself. is there some sort of security setting that i don’t know about that is still turned on in this OS?

Any help would be appreciated.
