Vista audio driver problem

by hardware_jinx . Updated 17 years, 10 months ago

Recently complete re-installed Vista on both my notebook & desktop from removing SP1 update.

This time I?ve struck trouble after installing the Windows update on RealTek audio driver. The sound is gone, there is no sound (from Windows OS & media players).
The SPDIF audio driver was installed by MS and I could not un-install or remove it.
I?ve tried ?Uninstall? & ?Driver Update?, but this SPDIF driver kept re-installing itself.
I?ve tried to install the various RealTek drivers; downloaded from Asus, RealTek & Software Patch, but all were unsuccessful with an error code ?10?.

I have spent hours trying to fix this problem, much more time than spent installing the OS.

Appreciate any advice.
