Vista Easy Transfer: Buffer Overrun

By dargen5378 ·
A friend just bought the new HP Touchsmart 25.5". The old PC is a Dell XPS (the compact) with XP. We initiated the Easy file transfer over the network. Touchsmart was connected via wireless. About 5 minutes into the transfer, Vista gives error message of "buffer overrun" and the transfer process was canceled. I am looking for answers and a fix. Touchsmart was only out of the box for 10 minutes, first time ever turned on. Thanks.

Well firstly I would suggest using a Wired Connection

To do this it's faster if nothing else.

With WiFi Connections a lot of the Bandwidth is taken up with the Security Protocols that could be causing the problem here. It is quite possible that a simple Buffer Overrun could be brought about by heavy Wireless traffic.

So I'm assuming that you tried again so what happened?

Retried Transfer over wired network connection

I have received the same error message on the HP TouchSmart:

Buffer overrun detected!

Program:...ckard\Touchsmart\Media\Kernal\CLML\CLML\CLMLSvc.exe

Please Advise.
