vista error messgae

By mommeeof10 ·
Somehow one of the user accounts on my Vista home premium has been changed? The icon for the internet connection shows a red X. If I put the mouse over the icon, it says connection status unknown access denied. I have no idea what was changed. The internet works fine on all the other accounts. I don't know if there is a virus, or one of my kids messed it up.

Now both accounts are affected!

It seems to be an Internet explorer error. I updated to IE 8. I'm still having the same problem. If I right click internet explorer and run as an administrator, I can access the internet, though I still have the red X in the system tray. Windows mail is still working, Mozilla firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird are not affected. Also, new profile is missing emails, how can I import them to thunderbird?

Open Network and Sharing Center by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Network and Sharing Center.

Check that network discovery is enabled along with anything else that you may need.
