Vista Filesharing

by druidhillarmory . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

I have a Vista workstation which refuses to allow copying files from other computers (XP/2000). Even if the files are attempted to be moved into the public directory, Explorer just hangs and fails to move the files. All computers on the net are fully shared to the desktop, and we have no problem moving files to any other computer.

Why does Vista say “computing time to move”? Can’t it just do what it’s told without the gory details? I could move files to the Vista system faster by copying them from the 2000 system to a floppy and walking over to the Vista to put it back in. This is ridiculous!! Why couldn’t they just have put a “classic” option in so it plays well with other systems? I’m ready to take the system back to the dealer after struggling with it for almost a year.

Any clues?
