Vista laptop ~ I think that its a hardware issue

By Jgates88 ·
i had a ecovery software going for awhile to try an dget some music back and then I did some updating and restarted it, it went thru the normal start-up process. I was going to go in using the superadmin account but my password wasnt working so I was attempting to log in thru my normal admin account. it froze so i waited tries CTRL-Alt-Del to restart, no response. So I did what I hate doing ever. I turned it off useing the power button. Waited a few minutes, then turned it back on. It started up and then a black screen with hard drive failure prediction immient, backup and replace.
press F1 to continue. I got out my recovery discs that I maded when I first got it and nothing. Restarted it again using the bad method. wa able to get into the boot options andput bot from cd at the top. Still went to the screen. I tried to do the System recoery using the F11 it wouldnt even come up. I just want to know if this is fixable. Im thinking that a new hard drive would fix it, but I figured itd be better to just buy a new one.

What Jacky is saying here is that you have SMART Enabled

So it is telling you of a HDD Issue that needs addressing and to test the drive with the Drive Makers Testing Utility to be 100% certain that you have a HDD Issue.

Unfortunately if the drive fails the test it is not a certainty that the HDD is faulty as the Drive Test tests the HDD, The HDD Controller built onto the M'Board and any Data Leads that are in use. So if the HDD Fails the test you really need to remove it from this computer and retest it in another computer. On the second test in different hardware if it still fails it is the HDD and if it passes you need to look at either the M'Board or Data Lead if there is one. Most new NB's have the HDD plug directly into the M'Board so this may not be an issue here. If it passes the second test it's your M'Board.

You really need to do this as some Data Recovery Software can mess up the Master Boot Record of a HDD causing the SMART to give a error when there is none. In a case like this it is the partition Information that has been messed up by the Data Recovery Software.
