Vista Logon Problem

By warthes7 ·
I have a user with an intermittent logon problem with a Vista Business machine. When she hits ctrl-alt-delete to bring up her logon screen, the background is there and the cancel button, but nothing else - no user name, password field, change user button. A reboot returns things to normal for a while. The problem happened this morning and twice last week. Any suggestions?

I found that it occurred right after Automatic Updates were installed. Do you have automatic updates set to install?

I have auto updates set to download and notify. I like to see what is going to be installed before it is. I was on vacation when this began and I know it has been rebooted often since.
