Last time I used migration was the first installation of XP some years ago. It left a lot to be desired and, a lot of scrambling to retrieve all of my important apps (I have a LOT of them) and data.
I’m getting a bit tired of all of the “hang-ups” and failures of XP Pro SP2 and so I’ve purchased Vista Home Premium (I don’t need the other features) and, although I can do an upgrade, I’d like to start with a “Clean” environment but, I only want to import one user profile, mine. I have a couple of 300GB SATA drives, each with two 50% partitions, and I can clean the secondary drive off for a clean Vista install. However, over the many years, I’ve installed a multitude of apps and I want to be able to get MOST of them back in operation after the install.
How is Vista Home Premium’s migration tool? Will I be able to select which profiles I want to migrate?
Also, after a (hopefully) successful installation, I’ll be upgrading my Office 2003 to Office 2007.
I’m getting on in years and I’m not ready to spend a lot of time in recovery [that’s NOT in the hospital :-)) ] so, if there is any RELIABLE procedure I can download, I would appreciate it.
I am not ready to have someone else do this for me!
Have a SAFE and JOYOUS holiday!
