I’ve just purchase a Vista Notebook and tried added it to my home network via a wireless connection. However I realized that the Note book would cause my SMC 700WBR router and MY DSL Modem to Reset after about 20 min. So I connected by cable and the same occured. I then decided to by a D-Link 628 Router because of this problem. Now my inter net connection is lost and the ISP is replacing the DSL Modem.
But the funniest thing is this I configure sharing on my Vista box and my XP machine and they both recieve aDHCP address from the D-link router and I can see the VISTA machine on my XP box but I still cannot access files from the Vista machine while using the XP box.
A ping will go as far as the D-link router from either machines and thats it. I then decided to reconnect the SMC router and the same happens. Inow strongly believe the something is wrong with my Vista machine configuration. also if I connect both machines together with a cross cable and manually configure IP address I still cannot ping either machines.
The problem is the VISTA Box ????
SUGGESTIONS ANYONE.
