My 14 year old son got into my software and initiated an upgrade to Vista Ultimate from within his Vista Premium session (using Ultimate key). By the time he involved me the Vista Rollback was, and continues to loop. Choosing Vista Rollback or Windows Vista brings the same result: reboot & setup error indicating setup would ?rollback?. I don’t want to continue/restart the upgrade as I am certain his laptop does not support Ultimate. I simply want to copy off some school work and videos he did not b/u. If I can do that a clean install (of factory installed Premium) is fine. I’ve tried everything I can think of and searched the MS KB and various forums. Complicating matters; from a command prompt I used the xcopy command to copy his ‘desktop’ folder to a USB drive. I had to drill down through 62 “desktop” folders and found nothing?!?!?
Is there any possibility that Vista stores the \users\*.* folders off somewhere else during an upgrade?
I apologize for the lack of technical detail here. If there is anything you might suggest I appreciate it. I’m trying not to use one of my MS support calls.
Thanks!
