This is the second time in 2 months this has happened to me and I am wondering if there is something wrong with Vista and Dell. I did a clean install of Vista, Office 07, Visual Studio 2008, MS Project & Visio 2007 – updated everything except Windows Live essentials on a Dell Optiplex GX620 and whammo after a month or so of no problems I get the dreaded “No Operating System” message @ boot. WTF – after pulling my fist from the monitor(luckily LCD monitors are easier on the knuckles than the old CRT) – I am wondering if there is an underlying issue with the Dell GX620 & Vista? I ran the windows repair knowing I had a better chance of seeing God than fixing this issue and the diagnostics reported a bad boot sector(again). So what are the chances of this happening twice in the span of two months? Should I just buy a new HD? Oh – for the sake of total disclosure,I did install one more program – Rome Total War with the Total Realism mod – work hard play hard. 🙂
