Vista Start up problems

by andrew.juergensen . Updated 18 years, 1 month ago

My sister gave me her computer to try and fix and when I turn it on it states the Vista failed to start up. I then selected the system repair option and selected start up repair. According to the diagnosis and repair details the root cause found is (system volume on disk is corrupt) Vista tried to fix the problem with the file system repair (chkdsk) but the result failed. Error Code: 0x1f What would be my next step to fix this problem without reinstalling Vista?

Thanks in advance.
