Vista: The Installation Package Could Not Be Opened

by rsmastersjr . Updated 17 years, 10 months ago

The obvious aside: Maybe I should’ve bought a mac and maybe I should’ve stuck with XP. I can assure all of you that you were right. On to the problem:

Vista Home Premium after a recent install has decided it doesn’t want to install certain software applications (iTunes, H-P updates, etc.) Some programs (Creative Soundblaster, SureThing, Acrobat Pro) have installed just fine. I am nearly insane after trying all the ideas posted on the Internet. Strangely, no one ever posts back to say the problem was resolved–they seem to fall off the face of the earth though I have not checked any asylums.

Particulars:

Vista Home Premium SP1
RAM: 2GB
Hard Drive: 160GB; 500GB–530GB free
PROCESSOR: Pentium IV
Security: McAfee

I have tried shutting everything down, deactivating and reactivating the installer, running as administrator, etc. If it seems basic, I’ve tried it. Microsoft Problems & Solutions is silent; the Microsoft database is no help. There isn’t even an error code, just a suggestion to contact the software manufacturer because the installation package is not valid.

I submit myself to ridicule, but do so knowing the best talent reads TechRepublic
