Vista Ultimate 64 Generic Monitor Problem !

By eddy315west ·
Officialy retired windows xp today after many great years ! do a clean install of vista ultimate 64 with sp1. installed all the drivers that i needed to install . Go Under display settings and my monitor is showing up as generic! lol trust me my monitor is far from generic. I Own A Gateway FHD2401 found Here http://www.gateway.com/retail/fhd2401.php

is there anyway i can change it from saying generic to what its supposed to say. on my xp it displayed it correctly. and in xp i could go into resolutions over 2000x whatever on here i can only go to 1900x1200.

thanks in advance,eddy

Actually, according to your supplied Gateway link : ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Vista Ultimate 64 Generic ...

It says:

Cutting-Edge Audiovisual Entertainment
Get a 2000:1 contrast ratio and up to a 2ms response time for great live action and the sharpest picture quality. The 1920 x 1200 resolution, ultra-high density display gives you rich images and lifelike clarity.

So, I doubt if even the redoubtable XP was capable of driving your monitor farther than its maximum native resolution.

Monitor classification

by jimdrvr99 In reply to Vista Ultimate 64 Generic ...

My laptop is Acer with Vista Home on it and it to says my monitor is generic, This is just one of many reasons I am reluctant to migrate to Vista on all my machines. I know this doesn't answer your question, just stating that the problem is in vista period.
