I would like to set up all future user accounts to by default use my 2nd hard drive for user account data. I’ve read of an easy registry change to achieve this (at location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList) but I’m concerned about configuring permissions and ihnheritance on the 2nd drive.
I’ve allready used the location / move method succesfully to reasign one accounts desktop and documents folder to the 2nd drive but the folder contents then become viewable by other users. I wouldn’t mind a walkthrough on setting all the permissions and inheritances for my D drive back to default I’ve been messing around for an hour and can no longer be sure I’ve restored them correctly, I think I have. I swear in the past I could use a security template to reset this but I’ve read that things in Vista may be a bit different. At one point I’m fairly sure I had the authenticated users on D drives permisions set to special like my boot drive but for the life of me I can’t seem to get it back.
If I recall correctly on boot drive C one admin can’t view contents of another admins documents folder but on drive D it is possible. I would like to after getting a default base line configure the permissions on D to mimmick C. thanks in advance.
