Vista Update = No Boot!

by curryman2323 . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

Hello. I was doing a fresh install of Vista on a new machine. Everything went great until I went to Windows Update to grab the “Optional Updates.” I don’t recall which exact ones I selected, but it was most of what was available save the language packs. Everything downloaded find, and the system rebooted as normal, and then the power died.

I switched the machine back on, it started to boot, and then died again before POST. NO beep codes, just fans start, 3-5 seconds or run time, then *poof* power off. I tried unplugging the power supply for a while (my first club out of the bag of weird power problems), but no dice. Anybody have any ideas? I can’t diagnose a hell of a lot with no power!
