Hi my 86 year old neighbour (just shows you’re never too old to start with computing) has had his machine for a couple of years. The prime issue with the machine is that he has constantly stopped the Windows update process & most of the updates from 2007 on have failed. I’m almost certain that this is because under some circumstances he’s actually switched the machine off! The system still thinks there are updates to install when you come to shut the machine down. This condition doesn’t clear. My guess is that the resource file used by update is corrupt and needs to be reset by FSUtil. I need to run this but each time I do I get a message telling me that it needs to be run by an administrator.
There’s only one account on the machine, that’s the one you logon with & its’ the administrator. Anyone advise how I get to run FSUtil to correct this & get his updates going?
Many thanks..
