Vista won't startup, system start-up repair failed

i use HP530,intel centrino duo 1gb ram, while running a disk cleanup my system was switched off.

now it failed to start. keeps saying error: acpi.sys missing or corrupt. i tried a start-up repair but windows couldn't fix it automatically.

please what do i do?

I found this on another site, maybe it will help you if you can boot to a command prompt window: do following in the command prompt, replace x with the drive letter of your DVD drive.

copy X:\Windows\System32\Drivers\acpi.sys C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\acpi.sys
You could also try this: 1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
