Hi all,
I am working on a home network for a friend. Short to the point: Vista machine, XP machine, d-link wireless router, both machines hard-wired, both firewalls off, no third-party firewalls, both machines set to WORKGROUP, ping OK to: 127.0.0.1, self-ip, router ip, modem ip, both have internet access, installed printers are shared, can see each machine from the other’s Search or Explore Network windows, cannot ping or access the other machine or printer. Both machines have been stepped through sharing and firewall configurations and repeatedly rebooted. Even the router and modem have been rebooted. The only thing that I am unsure of is the fact that the XP machine thinks it has a pirated copy of Windows. But why can’t the Vista machine ping the ip of it?
After two days, I am too tired to think. What am I missing?
TIA
