I have 2 laptops running Vista home premium and 2 XPpro desktops on my home wireless networks. One of the desktops recently had to be replaced and was replaced due to bad MB with another XPpro system. That desktop was had a printer attached directly to it and the 2 Vista systems had no problem using the shared printer attached to that system. However, after installing the new system with XPpro installed from the Dell factory and configuring to share the printer on the network, neither Vista Laptop will find the new XPpro system nor access the shared printer by name when input to the add printer dialogs..
I didn’t have these issues when I brought in the laptops to this network the first time as they both recognized the old XPpro desktop and were able to find the printer attached to it via USB without a problem.
I’m at my wits end and have tried everything I can think of. Any help or suggestions appreciated at this point, even those that may seem rather basic as I think I’ve run through options but may have missed something. I’m not IT pro, but do have some wide knowledge base as I pick the brains of my IT guys every chance I get.
you can email directly with any solutions as well as post here.
