    Visual Interdev/IIS 5 Authentication

    Locked

    by dean ·

I have set up the server so it uses the response challenge to authenticate my machine(client), it has worked well on the cable in Japan but recently have moved to Australia and signed up for cable service here.

But ever since I have set up here in Australia on the cable visual interdev wont let me logon to my web application using the response challange. If change the the setting the IIS5 to basic authentication it lets me through. I dont want to use this authentication method.

Please advise on how to get around this major problem.

    Client OS: Windows 2000 Professional
    Server OS: Windows 2000 Server
Application: Microsoft Visual Studio 6 >> Interdev
    Connection: Cable (Telstra Australia)

    Thanks
    Dean

      Hi Dean,

If the resource you are trying to access through the viusal interdev is located on another Server/Client than the one that has the IIS server, then you will not be able to access this resource with challenge response.

What you can do in order to work around this is to access a main page on the IIS server using challenge response and then use anonymous authentication in order to access the other resource.

Refer to http://15seconds.com for more information on IIS security structure.

      Best Regards,

      Rafik El-Raheb.
