VM Workstation issue

by nimmo . Updated 17 years, 1 month ago

I have multiple Linux and Windows VM clients, what seems to be happening is that when I have been using a Windows based client (doesn’t matter if it is XP, SBS 2003, 2003 std, SBS 2008, or Windows 7) my host PC decides that it will change some of my keystrokes to shortcuts on the host system not inside the clients.

For example after say 10 minutes using any of the above Windows clients I’ll switch back to my host PC (vista), and find that when I hit for example the letter c Dev-C++ decides to open or if I hit f my ftp manager opens.

(there isn’t any setting in either application that would be causing this)

This has only just started happening over the last week or so, I’ve had the latest version of VM installed since its release so an Upgrade in the software can’t be the cause, and it doesn?t matter if I have multiple or a single machine open.

I have taken a look to see if it is a sticky key but they aren’t enabled, changed keyboards, uninstalled and then re-installed with the latest keyboard drivers.

It starting to drive me crazy because each time it happens the only way to get the keystrokes back to normal is to reboot the damn thing.

But as I stated above none of my Linux clients will cause this problem, so it seems to be a Windows issue.

Some other information that may or may not help is that I have always installed VM tools as a complete package never customised; hot key to exit a VM has always been Ctrl + Alt (default).

Keyboard and mouse are activated when I click the mouse inside the VM, which again is default.

Pretty much the only major changes I have made to them are in the network connections settings.

Any ideas?
