VNC /Terminal Services issue

By liamothelegend ·
Come across a problem
If one machine on the network is logged on to a server using Terminal services and another has logged on to the same machine using VNC (both using the computer name)has anyone come across a situation where the computer using vnc cant access an .exe file in C:/Program files.Which is being used in the terminal services session

As soon as terminal services is closed and you relog on using VNC you can access the .exe
any ideas

The person logged into VNC is logged in to the cosole. It is as if they are sitting right in front of that server.

Two guesses:
1.) The application was not installed properly. Make sure to do a "change user /install" at a command prompt before installing an app on a terminal server. Or you can just install using Add/Remove programs if you do not want to do the command line.

2.) Whatever user ID the server is logged in as locally (remember VNC is just displaying the desktop as though you were sitting in front of the server) does not have rights to the executable.

So, check file/folder security on the executable and it's parent folder. If that all looks good uninsatll and re-install the app.
