VoIP

by guitarpaul . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

I have been reading a lot on the White Papers portion of this site and all around the internet but I am still at a loss for certain aspects of implementing VoIP across my business. Hopefully someone here can help pull my mind “out of the box” 🙂

I am a network admin at a small business and the Office Manager wants to stop using the VoIP service we currently use and implement our own so that we can manage it and be in control of it. He is also hoping to save money in the long haul.

We currently have VoIP service through a company called oneconnectip and everything works well. If I were to use our current POE switches and our current all purpose server (DHCP, DNS, SQL, Shared Printers and fodlers) and I am guessing some sort of software (researched some, there seem like a lot of options, some good looking Linux ones too), what else would I need to get up and running with a telephone number and talk time? I feel at a loss at this and I do not understand VoIP very well.
