I’ve been following VOIP for the last six years or so and I knew it was going to turn into a hot topic when the hardware technology got better. I used VOIP in 1999 but the hardware cost for personal or small business use was too high for the quality of service available at the time. Now that the quality is not so much of an issue, and hardware cost is in line, more people are starting to use it and some are making money as well. A few communication companies are offering direct marketing programs to take advantage of the tremendous growth potential in the VOIP arena. Herein lies the dilemma. Direct marketing folks say that you have to gather people together, have pep talks, rallies, tell sad stories with happy endings, and sign up those weakened, before they make it to the exits. I don’t agree, I sincerely believe that with sound technology, a proven pay plan, and the internet’s capibility to create communities, VOIP’s porential can be enjoyed without all the hype. I’m looking to find those interested in helping me show that success is possible by building a community of VOIP users online. Heck, the worst that can happen is we all make a lot of money, and have some fun.
