Hello, My Dell 933 Win98SE (OS used most) dual boot w/ Win2000 using 2000 Comander, 128Rdram, Promise 100, Western 40gig primary, IBM 70 gig secondary desktop has a constant problem on boot. “Volume that was removed had open files on it. Next time check first to see if volume can really be removed” message during boot. I have turned off Sleep for hard drives thinking this was causing the problem. No fix. Scan disk runs on C Drive when this occurs (occurs often). Secondary message states “the file system mounted on the volume had data that needs to be flushed. some data on the volume was lost. Next time….”
question 1) what do the messages relate to?
question 2) Any fixes?
question 3) Any problems with putting hard drives to sleep and running win98 or 2000 24×7? (for home automation purposes)
question 3) is there a web site that contains windows error messages and some background on why they trigger? (suprised this isn’t basic documentation on Microsoft’s web site).
Thanx for any help.
David
