Voted yet?

I went off at 7:15 AM EST to my polls in Pittsburgh, where I found more people in line that I had at any previous election. Had to wait 25 minutes to vote, more than I'm used to, but still not a hardship. In the last week Koch and Rove money has been pouring into Pennsylvania, trying to put it in play. I see five or six ads an hour trying to affect the presidential race, and they seem to be 75% anti-Obama. There are at least that many more for all the other people running.

I voted against Republican extremism, by the way. I can't say I voted in favor of anything at all.

Am planning an election party for two this evening... beer and chili.

I went to work early

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Voted yet?

I hate it when we revert to Standard Time. I still wake up at the time my body is accustomed to. After the time change this weekend, I'm waking up at 4:30. It only takes me an hour to get ready for work, and I wasn't going to sit outside the polls for 90 minutes waiting for them to open.

I'll stop at home around 4:00, get my headphones and a book, and get in line. My wife says she was there for two hours this morning. Still, it beats standing in the cold and dark in NJ, or getting shot at in some third-world country.

Fortunately, SC hasn't been a battleground state since the Republican primary. We've been spared most of the ads. I'm put off by both major candidates, so we're voting Libertarian in the hopes they'll draw the 5% needed to get matching funds.

Beer and chili - now THAT'S a platform!

1 hour, 40 minutes, all of it indoors, with a large bottle of water and the latest David Weber novel. Good times, man.

Not yet

I planned to come in a bit late. Four years ago, I was in line before the polls opened and it took 3 hours. I was going to do the same today, but got called in early, so I'm leaving early and should get there (the good lord and traffic willing) before most people get off work. Sometimes, it's a pain to work an hour away from home. One job I had, I was able to clock out for lunch and be back within 30 minutes, and stop off at a drive through while I was at it.

They picked a bad polling place, too. It has one entrance that is narrow, and just a few yards from an intersection, so there are big traffic bottlenecks.

Last week. Went to the city hall and did my civic duty. In and out in less than 20 minutes.

The place simply doesn't work

I entered My E Mail Address 25 times and it still kept asking me to enter again.

IBM must have designed the software so it was impossible to launch any missiles ever.

Didn't use that one, I used the Secret service backdoor access code

by Deadly Ernest In reply to Did you remember to enter ...

and i got the silo current status, but ran into an issue with the acceptance of launch codes. I suspect an AI is now involved as I got a message back saying:

"Target Not worth the cost of launch - launch refused unless you deposit cost overrun refund of $32,000,000."

and the answer cam back from both silos about both targets - damn, accounts getting stuck in the woodwork.
