Is it possible to setup WinXP as a VPN server without additional software? I'd like to be able to access files on my home computer while at work or on the road.

It would be easier to enable Remote Desktop at home and access it from work by IP address. This is assuming that you can get your IT Department to open up the correct ports and you have a Windows XP machine at work. Just do a search for Remote Desktop on Microsoft's website and you should get the information you need to set it up.

your other option is to setup IIS with ftp access. i dont know of any vpn server software for xp home or pro. there are a lot of routers that have vpn endpoints that you could use to connect to and then access your system like it was on a local lan. the one i use for my clients is called a hotbrick www.hotbrick.com
